Gusto is our choice as the top online payroll service for corporations and single owners. We chose Gusto from the pool of more than 70 payroll companies.
This application also provides a series of solid salary features, coupled with a well-designed user interface, and innovation and automation function that even impresses experts.
Plus, businesses can use it at reasonable prices tailored to their exact need.
Gusto stated that the company’s mission is to simplify complex business processes such as HR, benefits, and payroll for modern companies.
This company software is used by more than 100,000 companies nationally and has offices in San Francisco, Denver, and New York.
Why Gusto Online Payroll software ?
Many owners of S-Corps and Sole rely on part-time or contract-based employees. That means the payroll solution that can compensate for full W-2 employees and part-time is very important for this type of business.
The ideal payroll solution will also offer payment options for freelancers, consultants and 1099 other contractors.
The best software is one place that points to the type of employee in an organization equally simple by transferring its status in the software.
You don’t have to jump through a circle to pay several types of employees, and it must treat all types of workers together, including W-2 and 1099 contractors. After that, paying employees must be fast and easy.
In addition, there must be supermarket access to software for part-time W-2 employees and part-time.
Contractors, Freelancers, and Consultants must also be able to enter the payroll system to review payment discounts, access to the end of the year and see other relevant payroll information
Another important consideration of S-Corps and single owners must look for in payroll solutions is the ability to run a payroll without limits every month.
Because you might have to pay for contractors and freelancers on different schedules from your full employee and part-time, have the flexibility to run the payroll as often as you want at no extra charge is a great added value.
S-Corps and single owners can also find value in choosing a comprehensive payroll solution that offers HR service.
Many of these businesses do not have full-time HR representatives about staff.
Finding a payroll solution that offers HR services on demand can provide businesses with valuable guidelines that they will not have access.
In addition, being able to attach HR services to your payroll plan is far more affordable than paying salaries and benefits to have HR representatives on staff.
Another important feature for single owners and S-Corps is a complete salary tax service and the ability to pay employees in various ways.
While some employees appreciate paid through direct deposits, others prefer print checks or options using prepaid debit cards.
Gusto fulfills all the needs above. Gusto handles all payroll tax payroll processors and responsibilities for all types of employees.
Payroll software makes it easy to add new employees and appoint what type of worker – W-2 or 1099 – they.
When it comes to fees, both types of workers are considered “employees,” so there is no price change to run a payroll for someone who is considered a full or part-time employee versus freelancers or contractors.
Instead of the per-salary cost structure used by other payroll companies, Gusto imposes a monthly fee. You have a basic monthly fee as well as the cost per employee / contractor.
This means you have the same monthly fee whether you run a list of salaries once a month or five times a month. You can run as many payroll as you want at no extra cost.
Another aspect of Gusto which is a single owner and S-Corps might find interesting is the added HR service available.
The main advantage of this system is automatic payroll management because users can manage and schedule payments, and let the system handle the rest.
With this feature in its place, all employees will be paid on time, and the process will be independent of human interaction and thus less vulnerable to errors.
Gusto Payroll also supports campaigns for paperless transactions because Paystub Digital is sent via email in an effort to reduce paper waste.

4 Service packages consist of the following:
Core: Gusto’s core service package has a basic cost of $ 19 per month, plus $ 6 per employee. After six months of service, basic costs increased to $ 39 per month.
This is the cheapest package and includes the least HR features. Included in this plan are full-service payroll, self-service, health benefits and administration of workers’ compensation and free time tracking.
Complete: Gusto’s full-service package also has a basic cost of $ 39 per month. However, the cost per employee is $ 12 per month.
This plan covers everything in the core plan and employees’ offer and onboarding, more complete dead management, and employee directories and surveys.
Concierge: This is the richest plan of Gusto features and significantly more expensive than two other plans. The concierge plan has a basic cost of $ 149 per month, plus $ 12 per employee.
This plan offers everything in the core and complete plan plus wider HR support.
This additional SDM support level includes HR on-demand services that give you access anytime to HR professionals who can guide you through the questions or problems you have.
It also includes HR resource centers that can help create employees’ handbooks, job descriptions, human resources, and abuse training.
You also have a special support team that you can contact if you have a problem with this service.
Contractor: It is designed for entrepreneurs who do not have full-time employees and only work with contractors and freelancers. There is no basic fee for this plan. You only pay $ 6 per contractor, per month.
This plan allows you to pay the contractor as often as you want, provide self-service control options, and handle all 1099 forms of manufacture and submission.
Having access to various service packages can be useful for businesses without a full-time HR team. One good aspect is you can switch plans at any time.
So, if you start with a concierge plan to get help set up your HR department, you can. You can use the tool to complete the task, such as creating an employee handbook and job description.
If you reach a point where you feel no longer need that service, you can always change to one of the less comprehensive plans.
There is no contract with Gusto. You pay month to month. In addition, there are no setting fees, and no penalty to cancel services. This gives you the opportunity to test the service for some salary running.
If you decide it doesn’t meet your needs, you can cancel at no cost.
The only other cost you can submit is for some additional Gusto services, which you can submit to one of three service packages. This is more about the services added and the cost:
There is a contractor plan for companies that want to pay 1099 to their contractors.
The price is $ 6 per contractor (without basic prices) and includes non-limited contracting payments, self-contractor services and 1099 forms of form and submission.

Ease of use
Gusto is a cloud-host payroll service that does not require special software to install or maintain. You can easily access the payroll system of all web browsers.
Additionally, the Gusto platform is also cellular friendly and can be accessed from any smartphone or tablet
When entering the system, you are first taken to the porch veranda. In the middle of the veranda is the item you have to do. They can include things like running a list of salaries or leave.
Along the left side of the page is another aspect of the platform, including viewing or editing details and reminders of employees about which contractors need to be paid.
Running a salary list can be completed in just a few minutes.
After entering, you click on the Run Payroll tab and fill in the number of hours each employee works, holidays or sick days are taken, bonuses or commissions obtained, and replacement costs.
After clicking the Send Payroll link, you receive a confirmation to tell you that the money is sent through a direct deposit or that you can print checks for those who need it.
If you don’t have a lot of variations on payroll each payment period, you can set the system to run on autopilot.
Adding employees into the system is also a simple task.
You click on the Link Add Employees in Parts and add all their details, which include names, addresses, email addresses, compensation, direct deposit information, and federal and state archiving status.
Gusto provides all employees and entrepreneurs access to the system. Every worker is provided their own login credentials.
They can then access the software to review their payment pieces, see time break time and access to the end of the year.
Gusto offers lifelong access to this account. This means that employees can enter their accounts even after they leave the company.
Customer service and support
We were very impressed with Gusto’s customer support. To test the level of services provided, we contacted the company by telephone and chat directly several times posing as small business owners who were interested in their services.
When we stretched the phone, most of our calls were answered immediately.
There was one example where we had to wait for a few minutes before the representative talked to us; However, all of our other calls were immediately answered.
Every time we call, we talk to friendly and helpful representatives. In a short time, there were no representatives who pressed the US to commit to payroll services.
Instead, they focus on our needs. They listened to our questions and gave a comprehensive and detailed answer that always left us with a very clear understanding of what Gusto had to offer and how it worked.
During our call, we talk about costs, how easy the system to use and learn, various types of employees of the system accommodated, payroll tax services, available HR services, fees and customer support options.
We also tested Gusto’s direct chat support. Every time we send questions, we get immediate attention.
Other direct chat tools from other companies that we evaluate if we are waiting for a long period before we are connected with representatives.
With Gusto, we receive almost instant attention. Besides that, we are always happy with the answers we received for our question.
When testing chat tools directly from other payroll services, we are often left dissatisfied with the support they offer, because we can never get answers to our questions.
Often, we were told that to get the answer we needed, we had to reach the company by telephone – something that discounted direct chat value.
Besides the personal attention you can receive, Gusto has a number of valuable resource tools on the website. One of the most impressive is a payroll software demo.
This website includes a complete simulation of software that you can test. You can see what software is like and browse every aspect.
You can test add employees and other important functions. In addition, this website includes a help center and answers to frequently asked questions.
The Gusto support team is available between 8am and 5 P.M. (PT), Monday to Friday.
Although there are many things that are preferred from Gusto, there are two weaknesses that we found during our study.
One negative is that Gusto is not an accredited member of a better business bureau, and has a rating of D.
Although the ranking is low, however, there are only 12 complaints submitted against companies with BBB for the past three years.
Another disadvantage is that Gusto passes a four-year period where prices are raised regularly. However, since the company moved to a three-level service model, the price remained the same.
Built mainly for small businesses, this platform is also capable of automating calculation, payment, and delivering payroll taxes at any government level.
Meanwhile, it will ensure that businesses can pay through bank deposits or check options, automate calculations, year-end forms, and taxation to avoid critical errors, and save more time to handle maintenance of our own bookkeeping.
If you need help, you can contact the company’s customer support agent by telephone, email, or chat. They are based in Denver and San Francisco and provide assistance Monday to Friday, from 6 am to 5 pacific afternoon.
The main benefit of full salary automation is saving time because Gusto takes over time from calculations, ACA compliance, year-end forms, payroll tax, and even adopt a unique workflow calculation.
In this way, all important data is synchronized in one system, and users can focus on more important activities.
